This research work (kurs ishi) investigates the linguopragmatic peculiarities of irony in English and Uzbek literary works using contrastive analysis. It studies irony as a stylistic device involving the opposition of dictionary and contextual meanings, categorizes methods of expressing irony such as sarcasm and sneering, and explores the linguistic means and stages of irony expression. The work has theoretical and practical significance for Uzbek linguistics and aims to enrich philological education by providing new insights and teaching materials on stylistics.
