Course aims to familiarize students with basic geographic concepts particularly in relation to Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa and provide students a sense of place and time. Course objectives include describing the location, shape, and size of Ethiopia and the Horn, explaining the implications of location, shape, and size on the physical environment, socioeconomic, and political aspects, elaborating on major geological events and resultant landforms and mineral resources, and identifying major drainage systems and water resources.
