This article investigates how grammatical structures evolve over time and examines the function of grammar in language transformation. Using historical linguistic analysis and sociolinguistic theory, it explores the internal and external mechanisms driving grammatical change, such as regularization, simplification, analogy, and social influences including language contact. The study focuses on Old, Middle, and Early Modern English, illustrating the active role of grammar in linguistic evolution through both linguistic and social perspectives.
